Wand

Wand:

wood- cherry
core- unicorn
length- 12 inches
flex- rigid
embellishments- blood stones and garnets emphasis the handle

Muggle supplies:

dowel rod
xacto knife/blades
sand paper
paint-- burnt siena, burnt umber, ivory black
paint brushes
hot glue gun/glue
beads
little bit of blood (I was so proud, I only cut myself once!)

My wand it rigid which marks it as a good dueling wand. It has high accuracy. The glitz is noticeable when in use, it can strike fear in the enemy.

It also comes to very good use when hexing dragons to sleep.

I will be soon crafty a holder to keep it in superb condition.

Posting to Post

I am writing to pretty much just to write.

I got a new phone. It already has a scratch on the frame. I don't know how it got there when it has a hard cover on it.

I am sending my HSKS 8 package probably Thursday. I am still within the early send period!

I have my HLBOE package ready too. I am holding off on sending it because last time I quit participating in assignments afterwards. I don't want to do that this time. I also sent my package so early I forgot I was supposed to get a package. I think I sent a good 2 months before I received mine.

I just finished up my Care of Magical Creatures assignment for HLBOE. So many people participated and made lovely pygmy puffs!

I am nearly finished with my package for HLBOE. I know, I know, it is only 2 weeks into the swap, but I conversed with my swap mate Curlatrix Black a lot before term started. I have one item finished with one mitt expect for the thumb.

Astronomy Extra Credit

Venus Extra Credit
by Pandora Phelps
Astronomy

I made snagless bead stitch markers to represent planet Venus. The color patches on the bead matches the planet perfect. Link to image. Blogger is contrary.

Edit: Haha. I was so tired last night when I posted this the first time I didn't even realize that the stitch marker edited the rear end out!
That is part of a serious of three. By far it was the worst one, but that is my baby.
I have no idea how people get great photos of stitch markers! My muggle magic did not work.

Venus for Astronomy

Venus

by Pandora Phelps
Due 21 July 2009

Venus is the second planet from the sun and the sixth largest. The planet's name sake was from the Roman Goddess of Love. Earth is often called Venus's sister planet. The atmosphere is dense formed mostly of carbon dioxide and small amounts of nitrogen. This causes strong green houses effect in the solar system.

This is short summery of Venus. The planet is far more complex and interesting.

Swaps and Machine

I bought myself a new sewing machine. It is so small and cute! I love it. It was a present to myself to attempt to cheer up. One of my co-workers died on Tuesday night and I went to his funeral on Saturday. So, I had to make myself feel better and the the best way to do it is buy a sewing machine. I guess this puts me up to number 7.

We got swap partners for HLBOE today!! I am sending to Curlatrix Black and I am receiving from Madame Jak. I already have tons of ideas!!

HSKS 8 (Summer Camp)- We are trying a inner-cabin project. I planned to start this weekend, but it didn't happen. I was trying to get finished with the needles that occupied a monster* before I started. I didn't get finished with the monster because I find the twisted purl stitch to be exhausting. The beret I choose is Spring Beret by Natalie Larson.

I am about finished with my package to Georgiana. I am adding the extras now that I have the main stuff bought. I am doing really well on the budget- I have 10 dollars left to cover the extras.

I am having my July mini-vaction starting on Wednesday. To keep my summery spirit up, I have been taking a day or 2 of vaction rather than one big one. This is titled: A Very Harry Vaction. I am going to the opening at 12 am on Wednesday morning and I expect to get in at 4 am. I took the wrong day off and I already scheduled an eye appt. so it became my mini Harry Holiday.

*On the bright side, I figured out how to do magic loop properly after talking to the designer and I think now it will go much much faster.

R's Harry Gear

She was hell bent on a lizard. I got "SEEKER" off centered so I went ahead and did it. Plus she put a paint smudge there by helping.

Manta Ray for Arithmancy

Manta Ray

I choose the Manta Ray to represent my character number 1 because they are often found in shallow water alone. I sound myself with only a few close friends, however, I am not bothered by basking in the sun or studying by firelight in the common room alone.

Although manta rays are docile, if threatened they can domineer the situation to their advantage.

Tico welcomes you...

I don't typically post too much about work, but I made this today and HAD to share it! We are trying to get a logo for our library. We tossed around the idea of a mascot so I made this as an example/joke.

Game No. 3 HSKS8! RIDDIKULUS

Pandora Phelps's Boggart

My boggart would turn into a scary height on a line or cliff or tower...etc.

In pure fear I scream RIDDIKULUS! Giggles immediately over take me.

I would defeat my boggart by a huge trampoline to bounce me back into the air and I slowly stop and hop off happy to get an A+ on my Defense the Dark Arts exam!

Arithmancy Assignment

6 July 2009

Due Date 14 July 2009

Character 1

This is the number of the individual, the solitary unit. Ones are independent, focused, and determined. They set a goal and stick to it. They are leaders and inventors. Ones find it difficult to work with others and don't like to take orders. They can be self-centered, egotistical, and domineering. They are often loners

Heart 4

Like a table that rests solidly on four legs, four indicates stability and firmness. Fours enjoy hard work. They are practical, reliable and down to earth; they prefer logic and reason to flights of fancy. They are good at organization and getting things done. Like the cycle of the four seasons, they are also predictable. They can be stubborn, suspicious, overly practical and prone to angry outbursts. The conflicts possible in "two" are doubled in four.

Social 6

Six represents harmony, friendship, and family life. Sixes are loyal, reliable, and loving. They adapt easily. They do well in teaching and the arts, but are often unsuccessful in business. They are sometimes prone to gossip and complacency.

Keeper vs. Seeker

I have been keeping up with Pren's blog this weekend on how her Beauxbaton's uniform is coming along. I am shooting for a longer goal of Halloween for a costume. Partly, Arkansas doesn't have as many fun Harry Potter events and the other, I always bitch out. It is going to be hot so I have no intentions on wearing a costume.

R is going to be a quidditch player as I mentioned previously. I want to make the hat that Ron wears as a keeper. I really want to make it, but my realistic side is kicking in telling me that there is a possibility that she won't wear it. I have some goggles that will be perfect for seeker.

It will make sense- R as seeker and Tico as the snitch!! Yes, I change my mind, Tico will be a snitch!

I don't think Tico would as cute as a quaffle.

I am so damn excited.

I will enter Tico in a costume contest as a spider probably. I wish I could find a pet/owner contest- R and Tico would win it!

Huh, now to me: Newsie, Dead Bride, or HP Character (Lavender Brown?)

I never know

I never know when I am supposed to post for Summer Camp. I am doing it tonight just in case I am a bit busy tomorrow. I have cleaned "the cabin" all day after my parents left from visitation. Uh. I am tired and I don't feel like it is all done.

I am off to take a much needed shower. I am afraid that my little minion won't allow it though.

Quidditch Costume

R has expressed interest in being a Gryffindor Quidditch player for Halloween. I looked up some pretty good ideas on The Leaky Cauldron website. I don't know if I want to make a sweater because October in Arkansas is scorching. Plus, not everything will be accurate anyways because a kid that won't want to wear bulky things.

Here is what I am thinking: a short sleeved red shirt with a yellow stripe or a patch (I most likely will paint it on), felt pads (I would use pads for bikes but that would be too cumbersome for her), and the helmet thing that Ron wears which I will make out of felt. Felt has become my best friend.

Or, instead of shirt, a loose cape like top. Here is the link to the costume on The Leaky Cauldron.

Hmm... the helmet will be the most challenging.

OH and I have to make a spider costume for Tico. I have a general idea of how to do it. I am not sure if I am going to knit the spider or sew it.

Now what on earth am I going to wear.

A. Dead Bride
B. Harry Potter Character
C. Plain Jane Me

A. I bought a screwed up dress that someone wore on their honeymoon for a 1.00 at a yardsale. Apparently they were in a huge storm and their luggage got soaked in mud or something. Well, the dress was ruined by the dry cleaners, they melted the sequins and beads.

I thought it would be nice for a Halloween costume.

B. I was Luna 2 years ago. I am not sure if I want to be a HP character again.

C. No explaination.
